Description: This fascinating little volume by John Pollock, a former Trinity College Fellow, is inscribed in ink: "To the Rt. Hon. Winston Churchill, the man known to every Russian as Russia's staunchest friend, with warm admiration, from the author, J.P., Dec. 20. 1919." The statement is absolutely true but Churchill, as Secretary of State for War, was not widely appreciated at that time for his anti-Communism. A lengthy autograph letter signed by the author is laid into the book at the rear, dated Nov. 14 1941. "You must remember," Pollock points out, "that Churchill was believed to be responsible for the help sent to General Yudevich, who, if he had captured Petrograd, would have sent the whole Bolshevik house crashing to the ground." The book is a bit scuffed and shelfworn and bears a library sticker on the spine and a very handsome Ex-Libris bookplate from the Wigan Free Public Library. It is really quite a little wonder.
