Description: "With an Appendix, Containing All the Bulletins Issued by the French Ruler During the Contest, &c. &c. &c." Napoleon's campaign against Russia. A very important contemporary diary, later continued in "Campaigns in Germany and France ... " Sadly the five hand-colored maps are missing, though black & white photocopies are tucked in. Otherwise a very good set; both volumes have some foxing & browning in front matter, blind stamps on frontispiece & title pages and slight pencil marginalia on title pages, Vol. I has a faint stain at the upper left of the rear cover, issued without dust jackets, rebound in 3/4 black cloth with marbled paper & red gilt leather spine labels.
