Description: Otherwise identical to the 1956 First Edition, these were printed for the Civil War Book Club and signed by both authors on a second half-title page. One of the South's least celebrated, yet most capable generals. Hated by Davis, but probably second only to Lee, and possibly Jackson, in ability.

A very good copy, in very heavily worn & chipped dust jacket with large piece missing from spine, slight wear to corners, spine head & tail more worn, endpapers slightly browned. (470p., 7 illus., 9 maps, notes, biblio., index.)
